Operator Services is the voice of UC Berkeley.
It functions as the primary point of customer

the Berkeley Campus; responding to requests and
connecting callers using a computer-based
automatic call distributor. Our hours of operation
are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
Additional services include Conference Call
reservations, updating the Oakland White Page
listings for Berkeley Campus departments and
processing of requests for Pacific Bell billable
White and Yellow Page directories for campus
departments. Also within this unit, the
production of the Berkeley Campus Telephone
directory is updated and published annually. For

Conference Calls
Three way conference calls can be made from
campus telephone by activating the "three-way
calling feature" on campus telephones. To
establish a conference with two other
parties:
-
FLASH once to put the first party on
hold.
-
Hear special dial tone.
-
Dial the number of the second party
-
Announce the conference
-
FLASH once to connect all parties to the
conference
-
When the conference is complete, hang
up.
To "FLASH" means to briefly (for 1 second)
depress and then release the switch hook on the
telephone.
A conference call for any number of people can
be made with the assistance of a Campus
Information Specialist at 642-1242. A
Conference Call Reservation form is completed by
the department and sent to Operator Services via
FAX . Our FAX number is 643-8245. The department
may call our office ahead of time to inform us
that the form is being transmitted. Operator
Services will make the conference call
arrangements with MCI and then call the
department contact back with the following
information: a call in number, a pass code, and
an MCI confirmation number. The Call Leader and
all of the conference call participants will be
instructed to use that information at the
designated conference call time. If the
department requests special arrangements, further
instructions will be provided.

Cancellation Policy
Conference calls should be canceled no less
than one hour before the scheduled start time of
call. Failure to do so will result in a $3.50
penalty fee for each participant scheduled for
the call. For example, five (5) participants
including leader is 5 X $3.50 = $17.50
